The Breath that That Remains

Rebuilding in The Wake of Loss

A diagnosis changes everything. For Meg and Daniel, the future they imagined together begins to unravel when illness enters their home. What follows is a journey through uncertainty, sacrifice, grief, and the quiet acts of courage that emerge when ordinary people face extraordinary challenges. As Daniel's condition progresses, Meg becomes more than a wife. She becomes a caregiver, advocate, protector, and witness to both heartbreaking loss and enduring love. Alongside their children and community, they discover that resilience is not found in avoiding life's hardest moments, but in continuing to move forward through them. The Breath That Remains is a deeply moving story about caregiving, family, grief, and healing. With compassion and authenticity, Juan A. Reyes explores the realities of serious illness while illuminating the strength, connection, and hope that remain even after loss. For anyone whose life has been touched by ALS, caregiving, or profound change, this novel offers a powerful reminder that although circumstances may alter our path, love continues long after the journey itself has changed.
