**Elsen Portugal is a Brazilian born professor, researcher, ethnodoxologist, and pianist who has served in missions in Germany, Costa Rica, and Brazil since 1994. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music, post graduate studies in World Arts, and a theological PhD in Ethnodoxology. After nearly three decades of ministry on three continents, he embraced ethnodoxology, reshaping his understanding of the role of arts in all facets of Christian ministry. His doctoral research examines authenticity in Xerente (a Brazilian indigenous people group) Christian fusion music. He currently serves as Chair of Christian Studies at Champion Christian College, a GEN board member, collaborative pianist, director of ACT’s Theology and Arts in Ministry Initiative, and as one of the leaders of the ICETE Impact Team on Theology and Arts.
