This book was written to assist all Managers of the game, Football/Soccer, a easy ride into creating teamwork, that magic word that has escaped the Professional/Semi-Professional game for the last twenty years, but it looks that some people are waking up now,, so it makes this book more important, Why? Because it`s a simple and quick way to get teamwork in any team, top to bottom, initially, the manager should follow the quick start guide in this edition, no need to mention you are following a formula, just state the following, "I have decided to change our pattern of play, which will reduce our errors, each error usually results in a oppositions goal, so by cutting them out, increases our chances of winning more," all the players individually will benefit, because they will find they are playing faster, yet creating more space and time on and off the ball, this method needs only 50-60% of outfield players to follow the basic`s has instructed by the manager, these players you will find play close to coaching access, so in play coaching takes place, with reminders, and the results, will be a better attacking team pattern with defensive cover. In the ;late 1970s I had spend some time casually coaching my young nephews, after following the oldest nephew playing for his school team, and then joining a top youth team at 15 years old, after watching the team play, a few times, I was amazed when the team manager, at half time approached the club manager, and told him he was packing it in, I turned to the Club Manager and volunteered, to become team manager, I had five minutes to give a half time talk, luckily I had noticed somethings and quickly changed the play, approx. ten years later, of very successfully managing this team, which had Professional standard 18+ youth players when they left my team, another over all those years we did not of course, have static team, it was evolving, all the while we had a small playing squad normally 14-15 players, reason these players were sort after by other teams, some of the players were rejected by Norwich City, others, were on call to Norwich, which I use to be annoyed about, mainly I didn`t like Professional Football, logically the coaches have to produce, and I felt and still that to a professional coach riding on the safe side of coaching, you don`t take risk, a very talented player can be a pain for coaches, so not having the time or ways of dealing with uncertainty, that Natural Players give out, they have got together or the training of coaches have decided, that the best way forward is, get Tall Athletes, and with can train skills into them, Cloning top players? hence when my natural skilled players came back to me , they had lost their sharpest.
