Dr. Akemi Jones is an accomplished researcher, educator, and practitioner whose career is dedicated to improving the lives of those in her community of learners through the strategic use of technology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems and a master’s in the Arts of Teaching, both earned with highest honors and later obtained her Ph.D. in Education Leadership from a leading research university, as well as ABd in Organizational Leadership. She is a business and service partner with IBM, respectfully, with her education company, Educator For Life, LLC. She is developing software for New Teacher Institute, Inc. that will bring more clarity to training for educators. Throughout her studies, Dr. ones focused on the intersection of aging, healthcare innovation, and digital tools, culminating in groundbreaking work on artificial intelligence (AI) applications for older adults, as well as Virtual Reality Platforms. Over the past two decades, Dr. Jones has served in diverse roles that showcase her commitment to bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and everyday life. She has worked as an author, union leader, educator, artist, consultant, developer, and VR instructor for various organizations. She has advised technology startups on inclusive design and technical startup initiatives as well as collaborated to design meaningful technology for older adults and young adults. She is currently working to bring more attention to the ethical considerations of digital innovations in eldercare. She has collaborated with senior living communities, advocacy groups, and policymakers to develop educational programs that empower older adults to adopt AI tools confidently and safely.
