Understanding an Afrocentric World View Introduction to an Optimal Psychology Reflective Journal

This reflective journal is a companion to Dr. Linda James Myers’ foundational text, Understanding an Afrocentric World View: Introduction to an Optimal Psychology, developed in direct collaboration with Dr. Myers. Rooted in Optimal Psychology and Optimal Conceptual Theory, this journal invites readers to examine the worldview beneath their everyday choices: what they believe is real, how they know, what they value, and how they understand themselves, others, and the world. Where the book builds the framework, this journal creates space to live inside it. Chapter by chapter, readers are guided through reflection and self-examination, surfacing inherited assumptions, internalized beliefs, and dominant Western conditioning that may limit self-knowledge, liberation, and sustainable wellbeing. Designed for individual reflection, study groups, teaching spaces, community learning, and healing-centered practice, this journal asks what you are willing to examine—and what becomes possible when you do. Each chapter moves toward what Dr. Myers names as the foundation of all knowledge: self-knowledge.
