Dr. Carl Louis Young, PhD, didn’t simply choose a profession—he stepped into a lifelong mission. As the founder of *Increasing Life Chances 4 You*, Dr. Young brings over 12 years of direct experience in Minnesota’s mental health sector, guided by an unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and healing within the Black American community. His debut literary work, *It Takes a Nation of Millions to Fight the Power: Dismantling the War on Drugs, Vol. 1*, reflects this passion, offering a bold critique of punitive drug policies and their generational impact.
Dr. Young’s academic journey laid the foundation for his advocacy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/World History and a Master of Science in Sociology/Corrections from Minnesota State University–Mankato. Determined to expand his reach, he pursued a Doctorate of Education in Behavioral Health with a focus on Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. A proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Dr. Young remains deeply connected to community and collective uplift.
His clinical expertise centers on trauma, substance abuse, and crisis intervention, delivered through culturally responsive and strengths-based care. As a speaker and trainer, Dr. Young’s voice has reached thousands through platforms like KMOJ and Minnesota Public Radio, where he shares insights on healing, resilience, and systemic change.
Beyond credentials, Dr. Young is a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His personal life reflects the same values he brings to his professional work—compassion, accountability, and transformation. Through mentoring at-risk youth and leading community initiatives, he channels the power of education and storytelling to elevate those often unheard.
