THE TRUE STORY OF IRIS

A Fowl Tale Indeed!

Mrs. Appleseed's 8th grade classroom receives a bantam hen from the school district's Living Lab. Amelia, a shy and sensitive girl, develops a strong affection for the hen. She convinces her mother to ask the Living Lab to part ways with the chicken. Amelia takes the classroom pet home and names her Iris after her favorite flowers in the yard. Iris settles in easily to family life, and even befriends the family's cat, Smokie. Then, a series of unforeseen events occur. Iris is lost, then found, then...is there fowl foul play?
