Monica Naa Bersah Tawiah Ohene-Opare (1961–2023) was an educator, pioneer, and devoted advocate for faith and service. Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Monica’s life was marked by resilience, deep spirituality, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. She was among the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ghana, where she and her husband played a vital role in strengthening the Church’s foundation in West Africa.
A breast cancer survivor for many years, Monica’s courage and testimony inspired countless lives. She was the founder of Golden Sunbeam International School, where she nurtured generations of students and dedicated herself to providing opportunities for underprivileged children to receive an education.
Monica was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and mentor. Her legacy of faith, service, and love continues to bless the lives of all who knew her and those who will come to know her through her story.
