Kary Youman is a TEDx speaker, resilience coach, and creator of the Voice-to-Book Method. Born in Los Angeles and having spent most of his adult life in Portland, Oregon, he now lives in Molde, Norway, with his family. Kary believes that your voice is already wise. You just need to let it speak.
His journey into voice-based book creation began with a deeply personal experience. After connecting with his biological father as an adult through a genealogy site, Kary discovered that his father had been carrying a book inside him for over 20 years but struggled to get it down on paper. Together, they began recording conversations about his father's life, music career, and hard-won wisdom.
When his father died by suicide in 2020, Kary transformed those voice recordings into the completed book From Misery to Hope, ensuring that his father's story and insights would continue to touch lives. The book has since helped hundreds of readers, carrying forward a legacy that might otherwise have been lost.
This experience revealed a profound truth: everyone has a book inside them, but most will never write it because they're trying to do it the hard way. Your voice moves faster than your fingers and often captures more truth than careful editing ever could.
Since then, Kary has dedicated himself to helping coaches, creatives, and change-makers turn their expertise into books without the overwhelm of traditional writing. Through the Voice-to-Book Method, he's helped authors discover stories they didn't know they were carrying, wisdom they'd forgotten they possessed, and confidence they never knew they had.
Kary is a college dropout who has learned that authenticity matters more than credentials, that lived experience often trumps academic knowledge, and that the world desperately needs more authentic voices sharing genuine wisdom. He believes your book is already inside you, waiting to be spoken.
When he's not helping authors find their voice, Kary enjoys playing disc golf and traveling with his family.
